Biography
Rupert is a highly versatile and award-winning composer. A classically trained musician, he studied at the Royal College of Music and University of Edinburgh, composing in an eclectic variety of styles and genres, ranging from classical to jazz to electronic. He has worked on numerous projects, always seeking to think outside the box and demonstrate the tremendous emotional and thematic depth an imaginative score can add to storytelling.
Films he has worked on have achieved great success on the festival circuit, and been nominated for and won various awards, including BAFTAs. His score for the 2019 animation ‘The Fabric of You’ starring Iain Glen combined styles such as expressionism and atonality to great effect, winning the award for Best Score at the Nevada City Film Festival. His most recent projects include ‘Boys on Film 23: Dangerous to Know’ which was screened on Film 4; the documentary ‘Image Hunting’ directed by frequent David Attenborough collaborator Dominic Lester; and the dark comic horror feature ‘Retreat’ which just premiered at the Cinequest festival in San Jose.
